A summer program that actually
changes things.
WHAT IS LEAP
Most summer programs are designed to keep students busy or prevent learning loss. LEAP helps them start fall with new confidence. Every session is built around what your child needs. This is not a generic curriculum or binder of worksheets, and not a group where your learner may only get 20% of the teacher's attention.

LEAP students finish the summer with measurable gains in the skills that will make a difference for THEM: decoding, fluency, spelling, or math skills. Gains that they will feel walking in the door in September.

Truly Individualized
Every session is individualized, with a tutor who has studied your child's specific profile before day one. No groupings. No compromise on instructional fit.
Designed for your learner's needs
This is not one size fits all. We look at what specific skills are missing (phonological, orthographic, numeracy), figure out the best intervention, and build from there.
Research Validated Methods
We design instruction from multiple structured literacy and math programs, use your child's unique profile to decide program fit, then teach it with fidelity to ensure progress.
Visible Progress
We monitor progress every session and design the next session based on the growth we see.
Progress is reported every week and skills are re-assessed at the end of session to support school year providers in knowing your learner's new abilities.
WHO LEAP IS FOR
Your child might be a perfect fit for LEAP if...
-
They've been diagnosed with dyslexia, dyscalculia, or dysgraphia, or you suspect they should be.
-
They have an IEP for a specific learning disability in reading writing or math.
-
They are in a private school and do not receive direct instruction during the year.
-
They've worked with other tutors and made slow or inconsistent progress.
-
They are consistently not meeting IEP goals.
-
The goals in the IEP are not going to get them caught up.
-
School reports say things like "needs to apply themselves," "needs more practice," or "a little behind."
-
They're bright and verbal, but reading or math makes them shut down.
-
You want real data on what changed — not just a "great summer!" report.
-
They're an older student (grades 2–8) who has fallen through the cracks.
With PSL's expertise and optimistic approach, my daughter learned to read and understand her learning disability. And then came Jake with his creativity, compassion, and ability to partner with his student. My daughter's confidence, writing skills, and executive functioning blossomed. Because of her work with Lisa and Jake, my daughter has deepened her love of literature and maintained her goal to be a published writer.

FAQS
Q: What is the LEAP summer program? A: LEAP is Pine State Learning's intensive summer tutoring program — daily, one-on-one sessions built specifically around what your child needs. Before the first session, we review your child's profile and build a targeted plan. Students typically finish the summer with measurable gains in decoding, fluency, spelling, or math fact fluency — the kind of gains their September teachers notice. Q: Who is LEAP designed for? A: LEAP is built for students who are ready to make real gains — kids who are significantly behind, who have tried other tutoring without consistent progress, or who are heading into a transition year (3rd grade, 6th grade, 9th grade) where reading demands jump sharply. We work with students in grades 2-12, with particular strength working with older students who have been falling through the cracks for years. Q: How often do students meet during LEAP? A: LEAP is designed to be intensive — that's what makes it different from once-a-week tutoring. Sessions are scheduled multiple times per week, and we work with your family's summer calendar to find a rhythm that allows for real accumulation of skills. We'll tell you during the consultation what frequency makes sense for your child's profile. Q: How is LEAP different from other summer reading programs? A: Most summer programs keep kids busy. LEAP is built to make them measurably better. The difference is in how we start: with your specific child's skill profile, not a generic curriculum. There are no groups, no one-size-fits-all workbooks, and no programs run by counselors without specialized training. Every session is 1:1 with a tutor who studied your child's profile before day one. Q: What results can families realistically expect? A: In 2025, PSL students improved their decoding skills by an average of 2.5 grade levels. That's not a promise for every child — outcomes depend on your child's profile, the frequency of sessions, and where they're starting from. But we track progress every session, and we'll tell you honestly after the first few weeks whether the trajectory looks right. Q: How do I enroll in LEAP? A: Start with a free 15-minute consultation. We'll hear your child's history, tell you whether LEAP is the right fit, and walk you through exactly what their program would look like. Spots are limited — we keep caseloads small intentionally, and summer enrollment fills quickly. If you're considering it, the best time to reach out is now.
